Managing Seasonal Allergies

Spring is here and for many of us, that means seasonal allergies are too.  Seasonal allergies are caused by the body’s inability to adapt to changes in the environment.  Symptoms include watery, itchy eyes, a runny nose, sneezing, sinus congestion and drowsiness.  While many celebrate the incoming of spring, those with allergies dread it. 

 

Allergy symptoms are brought on by a histamine response in our body.  You can easily combat these symptoms by taking an over-the-counter or prescription anti-histamine.  There are also natural ways to combat symptoms; using essential oils for instance.  Essential oils with anti-allergen and anti-histamine properties can help thwart seasonal allergies.   Peppermint, lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus, lemon and frankincense all have qualities that may help ease the histamine response in the body.  To learn more about these and other oils and to see what research is saying,
